Well wouldn't you know it. I had to google another name for a group of feathered creatures. We had a quail family hatch under the trampoline. The mom and dad are very protective but you can occasionally see a few chicks following the parents around. When we get too close the parents freak and the chicks scatter. There is one chick that seems to be always a little behind the rest of the group. The have nested in the bushes by our fence. We have turned into a regular bird sanctuary. I couldn't get close enough to get a picture of the chicks. I don't have a good zoom lens. Here's the dad on the fence.

At the back of the garden you can see the mom and one little chick if you look carefully. I wish I could post a sound byte of how noisy they get when you get near those chicks.
what is UP with all the fowl? :)
ReplyDeletewe have errant ducks too! and we used to get quail and pheasants and chickens before we had a fence.
glad to see we're not the only ones with an aviary in our backyard!
